Finished face

I just got home and I had a surprise waiting for me. Carrie raku fired my clay sculpture for me that I had sculpted last week. I'm super psyched, it came out real cool! Thank you Carrie!

Playing with clay

Sculpting with clay today . I haven't sculpted with clay since college. Carrie  suggested we go to her pottery studio  and play with some clay. Normally I work with sculpey  so it was a bit of an adjustment. It's an old bald guy, just anyone was wondering.

Custom Munny Show

I've been meaning to post these shots for a while, but I guess it's better late then never. Back in December I took part in a custom Munny Show at the Paris in Plantsville Gallery in Plantsville CT. It was fun. I hadn't done a custom Munny before, so it was a pretty cool experience. Here are a crap-ton of shots of the sculpture, from every angle ever imagined.

Halloween Edition Pocket Mummy Boy

So  my good friend Toby who owns and runs Devil's Head Productions has teamed up with Super7 to do a Halloween Mummy Boy Exclusive.  The really cool part is that, Toby asked me to sculpt the demon skull and spine to go inside the Mummy Boy. So I sculpted it and hand-cast all the little resin demons. Toby did all the painting to the sculpt and the Mummy Boy.

They will be available this Halloween, Wednesday, October 31st, 12 Noon PST, for $35 each at Super7. For more info you can go to the Super7 blog or  visit Toysrevil.

It is a real cool piece, and I'm supper psyched to have had a small part in it.

Steampunk Bizarre 2

So I know I've been slacking on my post once again, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of blogging again. I'll try and catch you up on some recent work, and I'm hoping in the next few weeks to update the the over all look of The Salty Slug Blog. In the meantime, up above is one of six pieces I did for the Steampunk Bizarre 2 show. It's my version of a post apocalyptic military mech walker. I showed you it in a earlier post while I was working on it. In the next week I'll upload the rest of the work I did for that show plus some sketches, and other bits of art I've been working on.

Steampunk Sneak Peak...

Here are 2 quick shots I snapped with my cellphone this morning. This is one of my sculptures for the show. It is a Steampunk Walker that I scratch built. The legs are fully articulated, and when it's done it will have a driver and an environment. It stands about 8-9 inches tall, breathes fire, and has a bachelor degree in sports therapy. Since I'm not a "Steampunk Artist" this is my take on the genre. I was trying to go for a post apocalyptic Victorian war set in present day. I drew alot of inspiration from the movie 9, World War One photos, and of course, Tool videos. Between Carrie and I collecting junk (aka found treasures) for this show, our studio is trashed. But there is some pretty cool stuff coming out of there...at least I think so. Check back for more sneak peaks.

Steampunk Concepts

So I'm going to be in a Steampunk show this July at Artspace Gallery in Hartford CT. I'm planning on trying to do some more of my sculptures. Here is a crapy cell phone shot of one of my concept drawings for a "Victorian Iron Lung" sculpture. I'll post some more stuff as it gets closer to the show.
